Shabby Chic!
Si tratta di una tecnica che è nata dall’esigenza di ricreare su un oggetto, ma soprattutto su un mobile, un’imitazione di vernice scrostata per effetto dell’usura.
E’ molto suggestiva e, se eseguita correttamente, si ha l’impressione che l’uso abbia consumato l’oggetto, facendo saltare il colore e lasciando intravedere gli strati sottostanti delle precedenti verniciature o del legno grezzo.
Attualmente si tratta di una delle tecniche maggiormente richieste nell’ambito dei metodi di invecchiamento delle superfici. Il suo nome per intero è shabby chic, che letteralmente significa “trasandato di lusso”.
Lo Shabby Chic è uno stile, un modo di essere, che si richiama all'architetto americana Rachel Ashwell, la cui ricerca, curiosità e passione per arredi fuori moda e sempre di moda ha fatto nascere una vera e propria scuola di pensiero. Si tratta di un gusto che ama la patina del già vissuto, del logoro e che comprende vari settori: dalla moda vintage, all’arredamento e ai gioielli.
I colori più usati in questo tipo si stile sono: rosa polvere, menta, azzurri grigiastri, verdi, avorio, crema, grigi sbiaditi, spuma di mare, blu cielo e bianco candido.
Per ottenere questo effetto è sufficiente stendere una prima mano uniforme di colore, lasciarlo asciugare completamente e quindi strofinare con una candela di cera bianca gli spigoli dell’oggetto, gli angoli e le parti di maggior usura. Si dovranno quindi eliminare i residui di cera con un panno morbido e stendere una mano uniforme di colore acrilico. Una volta asciutto il colore sarà necessario strofinare con la carta vetro o con una spugnetta abrasiva la superficie trattata con la cera, in maniera che da queste zone si stacchi il colore acrilico.
